Diablo Blvd
Alcatraz Line up: 2018
Founded in 2005 by stand-up comedian Alex Agnew and guitarist Dave Hubrechts, Diablo Blvd was named after a Corrosion of Conformity song. They cite The Cult, Danzig and Black Label Society as some of their influences and there’s even some Type O Negative in there. Diablo’s full-length debut was released in 2009 but it wasn’t until late 2012 that Agnew put his stand-up comedy career on hold and to focus full-time on his musical endeavours, a move that paid off in spades. By the time ‘Follow the Deadlights’ dropped in 2014, it was clear that Diablo were more than just a hobby project and their groovy, catchy, blues-tinged hard rock was starting to build a fan base abroad as well. Late 2014 they proudly announced they had signed a worldwide record deal with Nuclear Blast and their latest effort ‘Zero Hour’ (2017) confirms their potential. Since then they’ve given two exclusive performances on the 70,000 Tons of Metal cruise and their festival calendar for this summer is jam-packed. Next stop: Alcatraz Metal Fest.
