Ministry
Alcatraz Line up: 2016, 2018
Spearheaded by sole remaining founder Al Jourgensen, Ministry have been at the forefront of industrial metal for three and a half decades. In late December 2012, long-time guitarist Mike Scaccia – who was also Al Jourgensen’s best friend - died of a heart attack while performing on stage with his other band Rigor Mortis. Jourgensen decided to break up Ministry following the tour in support of ‘From Beer to Eternity’. The live CD/DVD ‘Last Tangle in Paris’ (2012) was the ultimate tribute to Scaccia. Still, with Jourgensen nothing is as it seems: he’s been reanimated three times, is in contact with aliens, has acted as a guinea pig for Timothy Leary’s drug experiments, nearly lost his arm to a spider bite like the late Jeff Hanneman from Slayer and he had to have his big toe amputated after stepping on a dirty syringe. So perhaps it’s not that surprising that Ministry’s new album ‘AmeriKKKant’ is set for a March 2018 release. The first single, ‘Antifa’, comments on the political chaos that has the US in a death grip right now – or what did you expect? The perfect closing act for the Swamp!
