Municipal Waste
Alcatraz Line up: 2018
On the band’s website you can buy a T-shirt depicting Donald Trump blowing his brains out and that says a lot about Municipal Waste’s style: pure crossover thrash in the vein of D.R.I. and Suicidal Tendencies. Their latest effort ‘Slime and Punishment’ is another slab of ultrafast metal although some of the Iron Reagan punkiness has clearly rubbed off. The album combines the best of their previous work with the experience of the band members’ side projects. The result is a more varied record featuring a collection of fast, aggressive and concise tracks that usually fall short of the two-minute mark. Hardly any politically inspired sneers this time but mother church does get another good ribbing on ‘Poison the Preacher’. The frontstage security crew are guaranteed to get a hell of a workout with this gig but what do you expect from the world record holders for the most crowd surfers in a single song? Thrashing’s their business and business is good!
