British vocalist Blaze Bayley has built a solid reputation these past decades as one of the hardest-working throats in heavy music. Blaze started his career as the frontman for Wolfsbane.
Ten years later he was chosen from hundreds of candidates to replace departing Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, fronting the band on both ‘The X Factor’ and ‘Virtual XI’. When Dickinson returned to the fold, he embarked on a solo career with varying line-ups. During the 2011-2013 period, Bayley toured extensively with Maiden’s recently deceased original vocalist Paul Di’Anno. More than a decade and a half after disbanding, Wolfsbane reformed in 2010 and has remained active ever since. Blaze has ten solo albums to his name and continues to tour extensively. A heart attack and the resulting quadruple bypass surgery in 2023 only sidelined him for so long and we’re looking forward to his show here at Alcatraz this summer.
