The band name Briqueville is the French translation of the band members’ hometown Steendorp. The masks and long robes they wear on stage not only help protect their anonymity but also keep the band shrouded in mystery.
For over a decade, they’ve been mesmerising their audience with hypnotic elegies that conjure up the depths of doom metal and post-rock, seasoned with modified field recordings, a host of other unhinged sounds and eerie traditional instrumentation. Their latest slab ‘IIII’ alternates subtle tonal shifts and spells of warmth and abundance with frightening outbursts of sheer heaviness in an intoxicating transformation of their singular sound.
