Dudsekop

Played at Alcatraz: 2024

Under the banner of ‘West-Vlamse koavezworte metal’ (‘West Flemish pitch-black metal’), Ypres-based black metallers Dudsekop have been raging across the black metal scene with unrestrained fury. Dudsekop started out as a solo project by King Hiss guitarist Josh Fury, who in a distant past handled guitar duties for West-Flemish hardcore bands Congress and Liar. Fury wrote the full debut ‘Liksems’ (2022) on his own and recorded the tracks with drummer Bert Guillemont (also ex-Liar). Two years later Dudsekop is no longer a duo but a full-fledged band that has been garnering growing praise both at home and abroad. Their burgeoning reputation is owed to their singular yet intriguing take on black metal, characterised by a combination of razor-sharp guitar work, merciless bludgeoning and alternately screamed and barked vocals in the dialect of Ypres. Last March their impressive sophomore album dropped with ‘Wuk Emme Nog Van Leevn’.
