San Francisco, Bay Area, 1988: Forbidden’s debut album hits like a tidal wave, becoming an instant classic in the thrash genre.
Craig Locicero (guitar), Matt Camacho (bas), Paul Bostaph/Steve Jacobs (drums) and frontman Russ Anderson drop three more bombshells but in 1997 their armoury is depleted. In 2007 they saddle up once again but five years later it looks like it’s curtains for good. Fast forward to 2023: Forbidden stage one of metal’s most famous comebacks .Their first European gig in ages takes place at Club Elpee, Deinze and acts as a warm-up gig for what turns out to be a triumphant set at Alcatraz 2023. Locicero and Camacho have resurrect Forbidden from its smouldering ashes. Retired from the music business, Anderson gives it a pass but not before suggesting Norman Skinner as his replacement. The kit is manned by Chris Kontos (ex-Machine Head). What follows is not so much a ‘reunion’ but the rebirth of a defunct thrash institute. Their returning to Alcatraz was written in the stars and now they’re back: psyched, energised and… with new music!
