They’ve been together for 35 years, which is longer than most marriages. Heideroosjes are ageing like wine. “Our band is like the hotel in the Eagles song: you can check-out any time you like, but you can never leave.”
In 1989 four 15-year-old teenagers from Horst in the Dutch province of Limburg tried to stave off boredom with three chords and a fistful of ideas. The result? Eleven albums, slots at Pinkpop, Lowlands, Werchter, Pukkelpop and a slew of other festivals. One Edison, extensive touring across Europe, the US, Japan and South Africa. Collabs with personal heroes such as Lemmy and Belgian comedian Urbanus. This year the punk rockers are blowing out 50 candles and the band 35, respectively. They’re spicing up this jubilee year with a couple of new tracks, reissues of ‘Schizo’ (25 years) and ‘SINema’ (20 years) and carefully a select few live shows including Alcatraz.
