Hirax are celebrating their 40th anniversary, an occasion they will mark with a new album and a European tour. Any thrash band worth its salt knows that Alcatraz is a must on their touring schedule.
Hirax takes us back to the heyday of 80s thrash metal on the American West Coast. Vocalist Katon W. De Pena founded Hirax and is the only original band member left. Hirax were one of the first crossover acts that supplemented their thrash diet with speed metal and other cross-genre influences. They disbanded in 1989 but were resurrected in 2000. Over the years band members kept coming and going, with De Pena as the sole constant. In fact, in 2022 he was by himself for a spell, prompting him to put together a whole new line-up and get started on new material. A must-see for crossover and thrash lovers!
