The Belgian symphonic power/speed metal band Magic Kingdom is the brainchild of Brussels-based master guitarist Dushan Petrossi, who made a name for himself with his neoclassical power metal project Iron Mask.
Dushan may be a technical wizard – there’s a reason why he is referred to as the heir to Yngwie Malmsteen – but gripping melodies are still his main focus. That much was obvious on his debut ‘Arrival’ (1999) but ‘Metallic Tragedy’ (2004) really drove the point home. On subsequent albums Petrossi continued to spoil the fans with masterful compositions. We won’t fault you for thinking Magic Kingdom is the one-man show of a lonely musical hermit but you’d be wrong. On the new Blaze of Rage (2024) album, Dushan once again surrounds himself with excellent musicians: power bassist Vassili Moltchanov, drummer Gabriel Deschamps and lead vocalist Michael Vescera do an outstanding job, with black/death screams by Roma Siadletsky thrown in for good measure. A Magic Kingdom gig is often described as a mini opera with both protracted epic tales and short, powerful songs. A single-minded band and a more than worthy addition to our line-up.
