Saying the Swedes of Orbit Culture play melodic death metal no longer covers it.
Their latest work, 'Death Above Life' (2025), blends industrial, djent, metalcore and other influences into a furious cocktail. For the band, the album feels like a rebirth under Century Media, accompanied by a headlining tour in larger venues. Singer-guitarist Niklas Karlsson mainly writes instrumentally, developing riffs and choruses, weaving personal struggles with broader themes in the lyrics. Founded in 2013 by Karlsson and ex-guitarist Maximilian Zinsmeister, they’ve positioned themselves as one of the most exciting modern metal acts. Their breakthrough came with 'Nija' (2020), followed by the EP 'Shaman' (2021) showcasing their blend of aggression and melody. 'Descent' (2023) refined their sound further.
