More than half a century after the Ramones were founded, a number of musicians indebted to their legacy have joined forces in the tribute project Ramones Alive.
Heideroosjes vocalist Marco Roelofs and several veterans from the Dutch rock scene bring to life a string of undying classics. Drummer Bart Nederhand (Peter Pan Speedrock) hits harder than Marky Ramone in his best days. Harold Gielen tortures the bass as a member of thrash metal pioneers Legion of the Damned but was once a teenage punk fan. Oeds Beydals started his career as a four-chord punk guitarist and is now a respected member of Iron Jinn. Like the Ramones themselves, these are four completely different characters bound by their love of pure rock ‘n’ roll. Gabba gabba hey!
