Sadus
Alcatraz Line up: 2024
As you will know by now, the festival organisers are partial to thrash so it shouldn’t be surprising Sadus are making their Alcatraz debut this year. The legendary Californian thrashers formed in 1985 and made waves with their demo tapes ‘D.T.P.’ (Death to Posers, 1986) and ‘Certain Death’ (1987), the precursors to their full debut ‘Illusions’ from 1988. Several albums followed but life on the road was pretty complicated, with Di Giorgio dividing his time between Death, Iced Earth, Testament, Sebastian Bach and others. Meanwhile Moore had exited the band, leaving Sadus to continue as a three-piece. ‘Out for Blood’ dropped in 2006 but a regular tour schedule was out of the question, also because Di Giorgio embarked on a second stint in Testament. Things died down until Sadus, meanwhile reduced to a duo, were signed by Nuclear Blast and launched ‘The Shadow Inside’ (2023), a thrash record that heralds the start of a kick-ass new chapter in the band’s history!
