With a name that refers to a horror story, it’s not hard to imagine what you’re in for. The Night Eternal is a German heavy metal band hailing from Essen.
Formed in 2018, the band quickly established itself within the metal community. Many pundits considered 2021’s ‘Moonlit Cross’ (2021) one of the standout debuts of that year. Their music is characterised by themes of occultism and darkness, delivering a classic heavy metal sound infused with a modern edge; NWOBHM echoes abound. Haunting melodies, twin guitar harmonies and powerhouse vocals are also the main ingredients of ‘Fatale’ (2023) but the album is more refined, brooding and atmospheric than its predecessor, with a greater focus on storytelling. Their live performances are intense, captivating and ooze atmosphere—unadulterated heavy metal with a pitch-black heart and fuelled by eerie melodies.
