Twisted Sister

Alcatraz Line up: 2014, 2016

It took a long time but now we just shout it out: Twisted Sister is coming back to Kortrijk on Sunday the 14th of August. The band will blow you away on the sacred fields from Alcatraz, as they once did earlier in 2014. We hear some of you saying: “five times Twisted Sister within five years, this is too much”. Then we’d respond confident with the following: “five times Twisted Sister in five years is even a few times too little!”. If you were there last time in Dessel (many of you even a few days ago where the New Yorkers were closing Graspop Metal Meeting) and/or at Alcatraz in 2014, you should be convinced of our statement. Twisted Sister is a well-oiled machine that knows how to impress on stage, and they make it happen every time again. The band doesn’t care about releasing new records, they are playing classics like “You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll” (1983) and “Stay Hungry” (1984), albums which have sold millions of copies. Songs like “Burn In Hell”, “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock” are deeply etched in the collective memory and they are turning every festival zone into a big metal party. Everyone is familiar with the songs and they all, young and old, are singing along. Perhaps because front man Dee Snider is someone with an opinion and he is encouraging the audience to join the party. Or otherwise he’s kicking ass about everything what affects the credibility of rock, heavy metal and free expression in general. Only this time unfortunately there is a ‘but’. Twisted Sister announced their ’40 and F*ck it!’ and they have a good reason. It was enough for the band who lost their drummer and friend A.J. Pero last year. Twisted Sister calls it a day after forty years but not without a last goodbye along the festival stages. That Alcatraz is getting the honor says a lot about how the band thinks about our party in the middle of August We ‘ll provide the fireworks and Twisted Sister the music…welcome to our show!
