Joseph Poole, aka Wednesday 13, is a prolific American singer/musician who’s been active in several bands such as Murderdolls and Manic Spider Thrash, but he originally came to the fore with horror punk band Frankenstein Drag Queens from Planet 13.
In 2002 he teamed up with then Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison in Murderdolls and a few years later they played GMM together. As from 2004 he started working under the moniker Wednesday 13, releasing his first full-length in 2005. The next two albums were much darker, with a brooding atmosphere that fits horror enthusiasts like a glove. Wednesday 13 quickly established a reputation for horror-themed rock/metal, blending elements of shock rock, glam punk, gothic metal and industrial metal. His sound is heavily influenced by artists like Alice Cooper, Rob Zombie, Misfits and Marilyn Manson. Alice Cooper also inspired his theatrical stage show, with costumes and horror visuals. Lyrically he likes to reference classic horror films and sci-fi, and dark humour is a staple. On 2019’s ‘Necrophaze’ he got to work with his long-time hero Alice Cooper, the album itself reaching No. 2 on the Heatseekers chart.
