Power metal with folk influences, Tolkien-inspired tracks and band members that dress up as dwarves is all it took to coin the term dwarf metal.
Wind Rose was founded in 2009 in Pisa, Italy and their full-length debut dropped three years later with ‘Shadows Over Lothadruin’. Their dwarf metal caught on and support slots for the likes of Wintersun, Finntroll, Epica and Eluveitie followed. In 2018 their growing popularity landed them a deal with Napalm Records and the first single off their fourth album, a cover of ‘Diggy Diggy Hole’, went viral. Wind Rose was starting to earn a reputation. Meanwhile the crazy gang are on their seventh record and this summer they will be introducing ‘Trollslayer’ to the Alcatraz crowd.
