Wolfmother, the Australian formation around singer/guitarist Andrew Stockdale, are celebrating the twentieth anniversary of their highly successful, self-titled debut.
The album was an instant classic, firmly establishing Wolfmother as a force on the music scene. It also yielded two hits: ‘Woman’ and ‘Joker & the Thief’. Intensive touring and heavy promotion took a toll and equalling the success of their debut proved a difficult task. However, they released a further five albums, with ‘Rock Out’ the final one to date. Although they appeared in countless incarnations over the years, the signature hard rock/blues, rock/stoner sound with a neo-psychedelic fringe always remained intact. Wolfmother exudes that exciting atmosphere that was so typical of the 60s and 70s and Stockdale always manages to find that essence in tracks that offer just a little bit extra. The power trio currently consists of sole remaining founder Andrew Stockdale (guitar/lead vocals), James Wassenaar (bass) and Chris Condon (drums).
