Disneyland After Dark formed in Kopenhagen in the early 80s. Bassist Stig Pedersen came up with the name based on the idea that anything can happen in Disneyland once the lights go down.
They had their big break in 1989 with the album ‘No Fuel Left for the Pilgrims’ and the hit single ‘Sleeping My Day Away’. A few years later they abbreviated their name to D-A-D when Disney threatened to sue. D-A-D songs are uncomplicated in terms of structure and at the same time they’re catchy as hell. Stig Pedersen is an attraction in his own right: the blonde bassist likes to dress up in a historic costume and plays self-made two-string bass guitars in the shape of a rocket, a fish bone or a smartphone. In 2019 they released the excellent ‘A Prayer for the Loud’ featuring their signature sound from the early days. ‘Sleeping My Day Away’, ‘It’s After Dark’ or ‘Bad Craziness’ are just a few of the tracks that will set the stage alight. In 2021 they kicked major Alcatraz butt and they can’t wait to show you why they are still a consummate rock ‘n’ roll party band.
