Impossible to pigeonhole. They’ve been described as a metalcore band, Guitar.com calls them ‘genre agnostic’ and Blabbermouth.net feels they are ‘post-everything’. Fact remains that Heriot weave a tapestry of influences into their music: blackened, death, gothic, doom, industrial, sludge, punk, noise… you name it.
The UK press have always been quick to shower promising emerging bands with praise but in this case it’s absolutely justified. Hailing from the English town of Swindon, they erect a wall of sound that leaves the listener gasping for breath. Turning the original trio into a quartet, the 2019 addition of vocalist/guitarist Debbie Gough steered the group in promising new musical directions: 2020 saw them removing their older material from streamlining services and rebooting with the release of the single ‘Cleansed Existence’. Their 2022 EP ‘Profound Morality’ confirmed the new musical approach and their full-length debut ‘Devoured by the Mouth of Hell’ dropped in 2024. Savage, versatile and eerie, their music is often described as akin to – and a slice heavier than - Chelsea Wolfe. Fans of Code Orange, Conjurer and Employed to Serve will appreciate the sheer face-melting power of this emerging, gut-ripping leviathan.
