Metal musicians are known to be versatile and sometimes they surprise the music world with unsuspected talents.
Take Adam Darski, better known as Behemoth’s frontman Nergal. With Me and That Man, the Polish singer/guitarist ventures far from the paths he’s been travelling since 1991 with his main band. In 2017 their macabre debut ‘Songs of Love and Death’ dropped, calling to mind the likes of Nick Cave and Johnny Cash. Nergal walks his own line together with English rock guitarist John Porter, resulting in an unusual but totally authentic dose of Americana, luxuriously sprinkled with blues and folk accents. A bold expansion of this concept came in 2020 with ‘New Man, New Songs, Same Shit, Vol. 1’. Drawing from blues and gothic folk, it features over a dozen guest artists. Three years later ‘Vol. 2’ thrives on an ominous atmosphere and the consummate musicianship of both the band members and guest artists, including a fantastic, soulful clean voice contribution by Arch Enemy throat Alyssa White-Gluz.
