Formed in 1983 by ‘Nasty’ Ronnie Galletti, a true cult hero on the scene, Nasty Savage forged a reputation for explosive gigs – not literally of course but… close.
Nasty’s over-the-top stage antics were an attraction in themselves, like that time he smashed a TV to smithereens on his own head. More important, however, is the influence Nasty Savage had on the nascent death metal scene and bands like Death and Obituary, who took inspiration from Nasty & Co. Their self-titled 1985 debut was an explosive pot pourri as they were clearly still trying to find their aim (Mercyful Fate and Venom, anyone?). Follow-up ‘Indulgence’ (1987) is a collection of razor-sharp thrash anthems with a touch of prog. In 1989 they hung up their guitars after the more prog-oriented ‘Penetration Point’ (1989) but in 2002 they rebooted and hit back with ‘Psycho Psycho’ (2004). Following a long dry recording spell you can now sink your teeth in the delightful ‘Jeopardy Room’ (2024), a throwback to the mid-to-late 80s: just as energised and performed with the same laser precision. What’s more, Nasty’s voice hasn’t aged a day! A very special treat for any self-respecting thrash fan!
