Fleshgod Apocalypse
Alcatraz Line up: 2024
Italian bands seem to have an innate affinity with symphonic metal but Fleshgod Apocalypse add an extra dimension by infusing their classical leanings with death metal: in spite of the use of classical instruments they manage to generate the ferocity and brutal aggression so typical of death metal, resulting in five excellent albums featuring a proprietary blend of death metal growls, soaring operatic vocals, symphonic arrangements and crunching guitars. Established in 2007, they first came to the fore with their sophomore release ‘Agony’. Under the inspirational helmsmanship of singer/multi-instrumentalist Francesco Paoli, Fleshgod Apocalypse have been storming the heavens ever since. ‘Veleno’, their most recent long player, was named one of the top 50 albums of 2019. Expectations are high for their long-awaited sixth slab ‘Opera’ and although the album won’t be out yet when Alcatraz rolls around, we can’t think of a better place to debut a few new tracks!
