Shortly after Lemmy’s passing, guitarist Phil Campbell hit the road with his sons Todd, Dane and Tyla.
Motörhead is never far off but the band’s own work has also received excellent reviews. Phil flanked the iconic frontman from 1984 until his death in 2015, contributing to no fewer than 16 Motörhead albums. Since he can’t sit still, the Welshman founded Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons in 2016. Then the Campbell family tree hired promising young singer Neil Starr and they were in business. A self-titled maiden EP dropped in November 2016, followed by a busy touring schedule during which father and sons played their own songs but also paid tribute to Phil’s main sources of inspiration. ‘The Age of Absurdity’ (2018) and the recent ‘Kings of the Asylum’ put the band on the map and this summer at Alcatraz they have a special tribute in store to 50 years of Motörhead.
