In the late 90s the international press were in agreement: a glorious future awaited Santa Barbara-based Snot. Unfortunately fate doesn’t care about odds and often shuffles the cards.
A singular cocktail of punk rock, hardcore, funk and nu-metal and a reputation for super energetic live shows were going to propel Snot to the top of the heap. But in December 1998, well over a year after the release of their acclaimed debut ‘Get Some’, frontman Lynn Strait lost his life in a tragic road accident and the band didn’t survive this setback. Guitarist Mikey Doling hooked up with Soulfly and subsequently Channel Zero, bassist John ‘Tumor’ Fahnestock joined Amen, guitarist Sonny Mayo rocked out with (Həd)p.e., Ugly Kid Joe and – also – Amen, whereas drummer Jamie Miller still beats the skins for Bad Religion. A decade later the band reassembled for the first time with Tommy Vext on vocals; in 2015 they toured Europe and also stopped off in Kortrijk. Fast-forward another ten years and Snot are returning to Europe with a new, as of yet unknown vocalist and they still implement that unique and eminently recognisable cocktail of styles that has easily stood the test of time. Snot are back so come and Get Some!
