Bio
Ministry are without doubt one of the progenitors of the industrial scene. The brainchild of Al Jourgensen was spawned in Chicago.
They formed in the early 80s and throughout their turbulent history a slew of famous musicians have contributed to their impressive discography. In all fairness, Ministry is Jourgensen’s solo project and especially since the early noughties, the line-up has been a revolving door of famous friends. With Jourgensen nothing is as it seems: he’s been reanimated three times, is in contact with aliens, has acted as a guinea pig for Timothy Leary’s drug experiments, nearly lost his arm to a spider bite comparable to the one suffered by the late Jeff Hanneman and had to have his big toe amputated after stepping on a dirty syringe. Lyrically Jourgensen is known for his social, ecological and political observations and the maelstrom of political insanity in recent years certainly fuelled his outrage. Musically Ministry incorporates a range of influences against a backbone of industrial and thrash metal. His latest slab is called ‘Hopiumforthemasses’ and was described by one reviewer as ‘an almost surgical-precision suture of ‘Psalm 9’s power-saw dynamics and the electro-groove of ‘Twitch’.
