Formed in 2009 in California, Of Mice Men takes its name from John Steinbeck’s 1937 novel highlighting how 'the best laid plans of mice and men often go awry'.
This theme of setback and perseverance is at the core of their music and lyrics. One of their biggest trials was the 2016 departure of frontman Austin Carlile due to health issues - an event fatal to many bands but one from which Of Mice Men emerged stronger, continuing with bassist Aaron Pauley as new singer. The band blends metalcore, post-hardcore and alternative rock with grunge and nu-metal influences. Their most recent work, 'Another Miracle' (2025), reveals a more melodic and atmospheric side, while themes of struggle, resilience, and hope remain constants.
