Warbringer formed while its members were still in high school. Inspired by first-wave thrash giants like Metallica, Anthrax and Death Angel, their career got off to a flying start when a Century Media Records rep attending a gig to see another band ended up offering Warbringer a contract.
After the release of their debut ‘War Without End’ (2008), it was the following year’s ‘Waking into Nightmares’, produced by Exodus guitarist Dan Seagrave, that helped kickstart the thrash revival. Their sound evolved with ‘Worlds Torn Asunder’ (2011) and ‘IV: Empires Collapse’ (2013), exploring technicality and melody. A brief hiatus followed but they roared back with ‘Woe to the Vanquished’ (2017) and the hard-hitting ‘Weapons of Tomorrow’ (2020), showcasing their relentless energy and reaffirming their commitment to aggressive, high-speed thrash metal. Their latest slab ‘Wrath and Ruin’ was released at the start of this year and serves as a reminder of why they are one of the leading U.S. thrash bands. Warbringer are one of several excellent reasons to start your Alcatraz weekend on Thursday.
